  2. Also concerning the project, are the 5 problems the only thing we need to to turn into you? Everything else goes to Ms. Marentette?

  4. For #7 when solving for maximum velocity do we do the speed equation we learned in the vector unit?

    1. Maximum velocity and maximum speed are two different things. To maximize velocity, you can only do one component at a time. For instance you can find where x(t) is changing most rapidly and compare this to when y(t) is changing most rapidly.

    1. set the x equations equal and the y equations equal. Solve for tx and ty. If they match, then they intersect

    2. No, it is a guide as in "you should be able to do these". Feel free to post your solutions here since it is not a graded assignment.

  11. When integrating by parts with something like x^3*lnx dx can you use tabular integration?

    ReplyDelete

    1. No, if lnx is in the equation you must use uv minus the sum of vdu to get the answer.

    2. use integration by parts

    3. Tabular isn't necessary for your example because you only need to integrate by parts once (the derivative of lnx combines very nicely with the other function). Typically, you only want to use a table when repeated integration is needed.

  13. Which questions on the board were non calculator vs calculator? Could we use a calculator with the 2 questions or the 4 questions?

    1. Questions 1 and 2 are calculator open. 3-6 are non calculator, and you may go back to 1-2 without your calculator once time has been called in part A.
